My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU 2 OP by Yanagi Nagi and Round Table
April 5, 2015

It’s a cold, processed, almost colorless world, but people still reach out to one another in “My Teenage Romantic Comedy is SNAFU 2”.
When word came that Yanagi Nagi was going to work with Round Table for the OP to the second season of Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru, I was pretty excited to hear the results. Nagi has a great voice, and Round Table is an awesome band, but they need a vocalist for people to realize what they can do. They did a great number backing Maaya Nakamoto a few years back, but their big hits are back in the “featuring Nino” period.
I also like the visual treatment, that features a limited palette and a lot of graphic textures. The following two images show how the graphic treatment and limited palette is used in contrast to periodic moments that might represent those times in Hikigaya’s life when people manage to crack through the stony facade he has constructed.

Oh it was Yanagi Nagi who did the opening huh, I thought it sounded familiar. Heard her once live and it was alright, though that said I only knew one of her songs, the one for Black Bullet, but that was good, and this was quite a good listen too.

Yeah, I liked her OP for Amnesia, too.

Nagi Yanagi also did the opening theme song for SNAFU Season 1. When I heard her voice last time in 2013 I was pretty impressed. She does have a sweet, cute singing voice. It really reaches the depths of your mind. Actually thankful to you for highlighting the OP for SNAFU 2. The contrasting color palette used in the OP for SNAFU 2 is certainly thought-provoking. What metaphors it contains!
P.S. The OP for Amnesia was also excellent by Nagi Yanagi.

I didn’t remember that Nagi sang for the first season as well. I still listen to her OP for Amnesia on occasion. She has a great voice.

[…] I am unsure if many of you are aware but Nagi Yanagi the singer who sings for this season of My Teen Romantic Comedy is Wrong As I Expected. 2 also sang the first season’s opening theme song. While I dislike opening singing or music that is overly sweet sounding, Nagi Yanagi, proves you can do singing in an optimistic way that isn’t too overbearing. Her voice is beautiful especially when you note how her voice slowly stirs up and then can be capable of vocally echo out. The talk in the anime fanbase is hat Ms. Yanagi was once a guest vocalist of Egoist! Egoist the unit that works on most of the theme songs of not only Guilty Crown but also the Psycho-Pass anime franchise. Now if you know Egoist it is safe to say you would have to be pretty talented in singing to be a guest vocalist. Then to top it all of, the Harumodoki OP, is complimented by colorless and colored inverted scales of the characters or places close to the main characters. […]
