This episode takes another deranged look into what passes for love.

Mawaru Penguin Drum continues to impress. Episode 15 continues to jerk the audience around, setting up and ripping down expectations about plot and character. In addition we get our first real glimpse of Momoka, and it certainly wasn’t what I was expecting; then again nothing is quite what I expected in the world of the Penguin Drum.

Wishing you were here! Kenzan Takakura and co-workers (and penguins).

Mawaru Penguin Drum continues to astound. 12 episodes in and we are still getting bizarre revelations that make us question what the exact nature of this show really is. Ringo's deranged fantasy world overtakes reality.

Episode 4 of Mawaru Penguin Drum upsets the apple cart, well… let’s just say it shook up the formula in some ways, while giving free reign to Ringo’s delusions. In the process we (and Shouma) get to watch Ringo’s “magic” diary in action. We also get introduced to a new faction?!?

Pirate Power! Three times seeing this and only now am I noticing that Himari appears to have an eyepatch in this shot.

We are still just getting started, so episode 3 shows the mystery of Mawaru Penguin Drum┬ástill deepening. This time we probed into Ringo’s home life, and came up with some more questions. We also witnessed the fated encounter (that was prophesied in PV 5). An interesting (and as always visually rich) episode. This show continues to impress me. It does a great job of setting up our expectations and then delivering something else entirely. As a result, this show continues to feel fresh, and I keep looking forward to being surprised and awed week after week.
