At its best this series provided an interesting insight into the seedy underbelly through the eyes of its young protagonists.

Rather than recap the final episode of Kamisama no Memo-chou (God’s Notebook), I’m going to start right in on my final thoughts. I will try to avoid spoilers, however for those who just want the bottom line, this was an interesting show, that didn’t always live up to its potential; at a mere 12 episodes, it was worth a watch as a mystery series, particularly for its depiction of the darker side of modern city life.

Cliff-hanger!

Episode 7 of Kamisama no Memo-chou (God’s notebook) really surprised me. All previous mysteries have been resolved in one or two episodes, so, this being the third episode, and the initial mystery seemingly resolved, I expected a quick wrap-up. Instead the mystery deepened, and we ended with a cliff-hanger. I love it when a show defies my expectations (in a good way)!

Episode 3 of Kami-sama no Memo-chou (God’s Notebook) wraps up the second adventure. Rather than dwelling on the plot, or character growth, I focus here on an interesting ceremony that takes place.

The big boys come out to play.

Things get serious in episode 2 of Kami-sama no Memo-chou (God’s Notebook). Again we have some very nice artwork, and an intriguing mystery that is only unravelled with collective effort. Unlike the predictions of many, this series does not rely solely on the strength of a single individual (Alice), but rather the strength of the entire team.
