I’m having an Internet service disruption, so I have to post this at the town library. Consequently I don’t have a lot of time to mull over these posts and am submitting comments for Tiger and Bunny 19, Kamisama no Memo-chou 5, Cardfight Vanguard 30, Mawaru Penguin Drum 5 all together. Pirate Power! Three times seeing this and only now am I noticing that Himari appears to have an eyepatch in this shot.

We are still just getting started, so episode 3 shows the mystery of Mawaru Penguin Drum still deepening. This time we probed into Ringo’s home life, and came up with some more questions. We also witnessed the fated encounter (that was prophesied in PV 5). An interesting (and as always visually rich) episode. This show continues to impress me. It does a great job of setting up our expectations and then delivering something else entirely. As a result, this show continues to feel fresh, and I keep looking forward to being surprised and awed week after week.

Ringo Oginome.

Episode 2 of Mawaru Penguin Drum was heavily anticipated. One question on people’s minds was would the show be able to maintain the sense of wacky intensity when it started to reveal the contours of a real plot. Fortunately episode two is still a delicious blend of ridiculous fun and outrageous mystery.
