Durarara!! episode 3 – making new friends

It has been a while since I last dropped in on Ikebukuro. Tonight I caught a broadcast of the Durarara!! dub on Adult Swim, and it turned out to be one of my absolute favorite episodes. I don’t want to go back and re-blog this series, but since I didn’t start blogging it until mid-way through, I thought I could indulge myself in a couple of comments on this occasion.

Durarara!! 23: yellow no more

The Yellow Scarves turn on Kida.

Episode 23 is the second to last installment of Durarara!! In it Masaomi Kida learns some painful lessons. A contract is put out on Kida’s life by Horoda, and Celty’s plan to defuse the situation by getting Anri and Mikado to talk it out is disrupted when an angry (and bloodied) Shizuo declares his intention to kill Masaomi Kida. Yes, Kida grows a spine, and at the worst possible moment.

Durarara!! 22: Anri in a bunny suit

Anri. Maybe not the kind of bunny suit you were hoping for.

Durarara!! episode 22 is a mostly action-packed episode. Anri is chased by the Yellow Scarves, Mikado disbands the Dollars, and Shizuo is assassinated by Horoda.

Episode 20 of Durarara!! features Kadota’s gang, and more of Izaya’s masterful trolling. Meanwhile the leaders of the three factions fail to take advantage of the opportunities of their encounters to defuse the tension between Ikebukuro’s gangs.

Yes, misinformation is spreading faster, and one man in particular is positively ecstatic.

Everyone seems to love Celty Sturluson. Durarara!! is a popular series, and there are many reasons to watch, including a plot full of twists, but everyone seems to love Celty.

Durarara!! 18 – shogun
