Moretsu Pirates OP/ED released (Momoiro Clover Z)
March 7, 2012
The Mouretsu Pirates (AKA Fierce Pirates AKA Bodacious Space Pirates) OP/ED single was released today. Both tracks are performed by Momoiro Clover Z, an idol band with a sentai theme (think Power Rangers). You can see in the image above that each member is associated a color. I took to the ED (Lost Child) right away, but the OP (Mouretsu Uchuu Koukyokyoku) — “Furious Space Symphony’) also quickly grew on me. I don’t have too much to say, but I’ll link you to the vids.
OP – Mouretsu Uchuu Koukyokyoku
A couple of things I love about this song. First the lyrics seem to be barely controlled which I think adds to the frenetic (one might say furious — mouretsu) intensity. I also like the change in time signature. The animation in the anime version is also great, so I always watch this when the show comes on.
ED – Lost Child
This has a much different feel, less Rock, more Electronica. There is no official music video for Lost Child, so I’m embedding the anime ED.
Bonus Service – The Legend of Z
Just in case the Mouretsu Pirates didn’t satisfy your need for Momoiro Clover Z, this ought to cure you right quick.

I think I heard that name before… Ah yes, they did the second ending for Yosuga no Sora. I’m not too big into idol groups since of the questionability of talent, but it’s good news that they are doing some more Anime Related work.
Haven’t heard the OP/ED, so I can’t really comment on it.

I’m not a big idol group fan either, but check out the OP and/or the ED by listening to the youtube videos linked above. They’re both pretty fun for different reasons (surprising amount of variety).

Really like both songs but lol at that music video. I can’t stop laughing at the space bicycles. Not a big fan of idols or Jpop or anything like that but they’re both good songs and they’re fun and catchy. Also really liked another song they did in the past which was the ED to Double J.

Ah! That’s right, they did the Double-J ED, as well. That was the best part of the show. I’m going to link that up, so people check it out:
Also, I love those space bicycles — truly crazy but cool idea.

Yeah, the only reason I watched Double J was just to hear that ending every week. Really enjoyed how short yet amazing it was. Kinda curious if the idol group will be involved with more anime stuff in the future since it seems like they’re taking a step up going from Double J to Mouretsu Pirates. Wonder what’s next in store for them.

While I was looking for the Lost Child PV (that doesn’t exist, apparently), I found a bunch of commercials they did for Mitsubishi monitors, so they must be getting pretty popular. At any rate, their record label is Starchild (a branch of King Records), so I bet they will continue to supply music for anime.
