Fall 2010 Plans
August 15, 2010
I never write up comprehensive previews of upcoming seasons (let alone with a quill pen), I like to leave that sort of thing to those more knowledgeable, so take a look at the Star-Crossed Anime Review, for a thoughtful and comprehensive write up of the season. For those more visually oriented, He Who Propels the Cart Forward has prepared a chart for at-a-glance consultation. Instead I merely want to convey my plans regarding Fall 2010 anime viewing/blogging.
First the shows I’ll be blogging:
- Arakawa Under the Bridge X Bridge. The first season was very fun and I’m hoping this second season will deal directly with the lingering question of Nino’s background (mental stability).
- Hakuouki 2. Historical drama with fantasy extras. The Shinsengumi have retreated from Kyoto at the start of the Boshin War.
- Bakuman. I’ve been looking forward to this since Sapphire Pyro recommended it as a story about people pursuing a career.
These shows didn’t make the above list because three shows is enough, but did show potential:
- Iron Man. Definitely will be reading reviews as they come out in hopes that this turns out well.
- Kuragehime. I’m behind on my Noitamina series. I’m working on a Paradise Kiss review, and after that I want to pick up Tatami Galaxy again, so this one is going to have to wait.
- Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru. I like the girl in love with mystery angle, but am burnt out on maid cafes.

Fall looks like it’s going to be pretty good so far. I’ve been looking forward to the second season of Index since it was announced and Star Driver has a lot of potential when you consider Bones’ track record with mecha anime.
Then there’s the stuff that you’ve mentioned that I’m also looking forward to, like Bakuman due to the look it gives at how Shonen Jump works (along with the flaws it has), the second season of Arakawa for all the wacky characters, and Kuragehime which will be directed by Takahiro Omori who also directed the Baccano! and Durarara!! anime.

I’m definitely watching the ones that you mentioned. Though if you liked Shiki and Occult, I do recommend you check out Psychic Detective Yakumo and Deadman Wonderland, I just hope Bee Train and Satelight do a good job on both.
I have started having issues with J.C. Staff and being the busiest studio of this season, I fear for their show quality.
All in all though, fall looks good! ^^

I am a little worried about Bee Train, although I suppose this is an adaptation. I’m not a fan of their originals.

I’m quite looking forward to it. Especially now that I finished Paradise Kiss.
